Description
This temperature sending unit converts engine temperature into electrical resistance, thereby producing a corresponding gauge reading. This variable resistance sending unit is used in vehicles having gauges (not warning/idiot lights).
NOTE: Vehicles with warning lights (idiot lights) should not use this sending unit. Those vehicles require a temperature sending “switch” that is either in an on or off state.
Note: Is your car running too hot? Maybe your temperature gauge is not telling you the truth. Most cars have had their temperature sending unit replaced with a GM/Delco or an auto parts store replacement temperature sending unit. This may be your problem! Both auto parts stores and GM/Delco do sell replacement temperature sending units, but they do not produce an accurate gauge reading in vintage cars. This is because sending units from an auto parts store, and even GM, are only a generic replacement; often requiring a new matching gauge orre-calibration of your
